I don’t even know where this recipe started, but my mom’s been making it for decades. If the name scares you a bit, give these a chance because they are very easy, make a jellyroll pan full (so they are great for a crowd) and are so delicious and moist you’ll love them!
Mix together:
*2 c. sugar
*2 c. flour
*1/2 tsp. salt
Boil together on stove in a pan:
*2 cubes + 2 TBSP. butter
*1 c. water
*2 TBSP. cocoa
Pour cocoa mixture into flour mixture and add:
*1 tsp. baking soda
*1/2 c. sour cream
*3 eggs
*1 tsp. vanilla
Pour into a lightly greased jellyroll pan and bake at 375 for 35 minutes. Frost while slightly warm.
Frosting: (This is the one I use, but if you have a favorite, use it)
Melt ½ c. butter and blend in 1/3 c. cocoa. Stir in 1/3 c. room temperature milk until incorporated. Add 1 ½ - 3 c. powdered sugar until frosting holds together. You still want to be able to spread it, so don’t get carried away.
Note: The texture of these is more on the cakelike side than the gooey fudgey side.

For anybody reading this, these really are SO good. Everybody requests them because they're so soft. Yum.
